The
Carmelite Vocation

Leaving all for love of Jesus is life's greatest adventure, opening out
onto a whole new freedom that unifies and simplifies one's entire
being.
All one's energies and gifts are channelled into loving, so that with
Therese we can say: 'Love is all the skill I have.' To enter
Carmel is to fall
into a fortune! It
is to inherit the vast riches of our Carmelite tradition, the wealth of
example and teaching of our many Carmelite saints, especially the
inspired writings of our three Doctors of the Church, Teresa, John of
the Cross and Therese. It is to be welcomed into the heart of a warm
loving extended family of sisters and brothers from all walks of life,
in whom that rich tradition is incarnated for today's world; the same
spiritual blood, as it were, flows in our veins.

Prayer for Vocations
Please join
us in praying for the blessing of new vocations by saying our Vocations
prayer:
Lord
Jesus, I thank you for the Carmelite way of life, for those priests and
nuns
who dedicate their lives to God in prayer on our behalf. May
you call many more women and men to continue this way of life in our
Country.
Give me the courage to invite by name those whom I feel may have a
call. Help
me to encourage and support those who are already discerning their
vocation. Bless
all who are in formation in Carmel
in Ireland
and
those entrusted with their care. May all Carmelite Communities be good
soil to
nurture the seeds you will send them. Lord
Jesus, I make this prayer trusting in your promise: “Ask
and you will receive”, knowing that “by
your power working among us, you can do infinitely more than we can
ask or imagine”.
Amen.
Our
Lady of Mt Carmel, pray for us.
St Joseph, pray for us.
All
the Saints of
Carmel, pray for us.

| Meet
our "Novitiate" Sisters |
My
name is Sr Mary Noeleen of Jesus and I'm the Novice Mistress at
Kilmacud, and also the contact person for anyone interested in
vocations. It is my role to accompany those who respond to God's call,
and as it is such "sacred space", I must rely on the Holy
Spirit
and on Mary the Mother of God to help me. You may be
wondering what this "call" is, and
how it comes? Well, I invite you to read our page on discerning a vocation to
learn more. A vocation is a gift from God and is unique to each person.
Should you
feel the stirrings inside you of this call, please do not
hesitate to get in touch with me, I would be very happy to help you on
your journey...

Hello! My name is Sr Mary Fionnuala.
I'm 35 years old and from Dublin. I obtained a degree in Science and
worked for about 9 years before I joined the community at Kilmacud in
2006. I made my First Profession in January 2009 when I took
temporary vows for three years. I wear a white veil to show
that I
am still "in formation" -
this
means that I have not yet taken my final vows. Until then, I continue
learning more about the Carmelite life and receiving the support and
guidance of Sr Mary Noeleen. If you would like to read my
vocation
story, please click here:
